Education Sustains Economic Vitality

Ohio College Tech Prep is more than an educational strategy. It is a high school-to-college-and-career program that is closely linked to the needs of business, industry and labor. The program’s primary mission is to provide a seamless, non-duplicative, integrated pathway of education and experience that starts in high school, continues through both two- and/or four-year colleges and leads to success in the chosen technical career field. The long-term success of program participants is connected to both current and future workplace.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, information technologies, health care services and engineering are three of the fastest employment growth arenas. In Ohio, students prepare for these and other equally important technical specialties such as biotechnologies, business management and manufacturing. These programs are vital to Ohio’s competitive standing and economic vitality for the foreseeable future.

Tech Prep programs are closely tied with local, regional and statewide workforce development. Employers have a vital role in developing, implementing and evaluating curricula. They are valued partners who help educators identify workforce trends and necessary skill requirements. On-going collaboration fosters high standards and delivery of relevant education. Tech Prep students graduate ready and able to meet workplace expectations.

“I've always wanted to be a person that people would come to for help. Being in Tech Prep has given me the knowledge and confidence I need to be that person. From high school to college, I appreciate the opportunities Tech Prep has provided.”
