College Credit
One of the best College Tech Prep advantages is the
opportunity to earn college credit – without paying
tuition - for some of your technical courses.
Cost saving is a benefit of Tech Prep’s seamless
pathway structure. You complete college-level
technical coursework while you’re still in high
school. Your high school teachers and partner
college faculty members work together, agreeing to
teach the same content at the same level in a
particular course.
This collaboration is recognized in a formal
articulation agreement between the school district
and the partner college. Typical agreements include:
-
high school
and college curriculum options and requirements
-
college
admission prerequisites
-
standards for
advanced placement, college credit and course
by-pass
-
continuing
education options
However, in order to
earn college credit, advanced standing or course
by-pass you must meet specific program
qualifications. You must successfully complete
both years of your Tech Prep program as well as
meet specific performance criteria, such as
achieving a certain grade or formally
demonstrating subject material mastery.
Specific standards and opportunities for earned
credit vary for each program and course. Talk to
your Tech Prep teacher or Tech Prep Consortium
about your program options.

Tech Prep program. College Tech Prep not
only prepared our children for college,
but gave them several different career
