College Deans/Academic Officers

  • Develop an institutional vision of College Tech Prep in conjunction with secondary system directors and superintendents.

  • Identify college planning team members.

  • Assist in leading the Tech Prep project.

  • Coordinate planning for Tech Prep with key groups.

  • Assist in Tech Prep project management.

School Superintendents

  • Develop a vision of Tech Prep for the school district in conjunction college presidents and career tech directors.

  • Communicate and sell the Tech Prep vision.

  • Develop a Tech Prep philosophy and district policies.

School Principals

  • Identify school planning team members.

  • Provide building level support.

  • Assist in developing a Tech Prep philosophy and school policies.

Career Technical Directors

  • Assist in Tech Prep vision and philosophy development.

  • Facilitate communication across systems and institutions.

  • Gain local support and resources.

  • Assist in curriculum integration efforts.

  • Identify planning team members.

  • Assist in Tech Prep project management.

Academic Teachers

  • Instruct Tech Prep students to achieve academic competencies.

  • Maintain college prep performance expectations.

  • Use examples, problems and applied activities to achieve academic competencies.

  • Work collaboratively with technical teachers and other academic colleagues (including college).

  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Identify academic applications for an integrated academic and technical curriculum.

  • Help to design and develop an integrated curriculum.

  • Plan and participate in team teaching of the integrated curriculum.

Technical Teachers

  • Instruct Tech Prep students to achieve skill competencies.

  • Maintain college prep student performance expectations.

  • Use examples, problems and applied activities to achieve academic competencies.

  • Work collaboratively with other high school, college and business colleagues.

  • Facilitate student involvement in enrichment activities—especially activities involving employers and/or college partners.

  • Identify technical applications for an integrated academic and technical curriculum.

  • Design and develop an integrated curriculum jointly with academic faculty and others.

  • Plan and participate in team teaching of the integrated curriculum.

  • Assist in designing staff development.

  • Assist in designing articulation agreements.

  • Educate others about Tech Prep.

Counselors

  • Promote Tech Prep and its options to students and parents.

  • Counsel students about participating in Tech Prep.

  • Assist in designing Tech Prep components.

  • Assist students with career planning.

  • Help students arrange work experience.

  • Assist students in planning Tech Prep programs of study.
