Panel of Experts
The College Tech Prep
consortium may assist school districts in assembling
and administering a panel of experts to evaluate
teacher qualifications in accordance with the
regulations detailed in Ohio Teacher Licensure
Standard 3301-24-05. The panel of business and
industry representatives evaluates qualifications:
-
Verification of industry certification (e.g., A+
Certification, CISCO) or comparable completed
coursework.
-
Knowledge of the appropriate Technical
Competency Profile and evidence of mastery of
the TCP competencies.
-
Verification of relevant coursework through an
appropriate postsecondary institution.
Following the Panel of Experts’
recommendations, the candidate prepares a
two-year professional development plan to
overcome deficiencies noted by the panel and
presents it to the superintendent and consortium
director for review and approval. The candidate
and district complete a CTE 37 form.
The candidate applies for admission to a
university offering a Route B licensure program.
Upon acceptance, a two-year provisional license
is issued. The candidate’s professional
development plan must be successfully completed
within two years of the provisional license. In
addition, six semester hours minimum must be
completed in compliance with the
college/university standards of approved
program.
The two-year provisional license can be renewed
once. During the license renewal, the candidate
must complete the college/university program and
pass the Praxis III exam. Upon successful
completion of the college/university program and
the Praxis III, the candidate applies for the
five-year professional license. |
